I recently had the chance to interview Iowa State LB Jeremy Loyd. In this interview he talks about Iowa, Coach McCarney, and many other things.

1. What was high school football like for you?
Pretty good, I was a 3 year Varsity letter and I played almost every position my senior year except quarterback. I hold 2 school records, 76-yard punt and 47-yard field goal.

2. What was junior college football like?
Really good experience for me, it enabled me to develop mentally and physically as an all around player. I was a pre-season All American and was 1st team All Conference as a sophomore. Our team was also pretty good; we won our Conference and our Bowl game ranking us 4th in
the Nation. I had 7 interceptions in my career in Juco which 3 I returned for
Touchdowns. I returned one of my int's. 102 yards which I think is tied for 2nd in
Juco records, and another 73 yards.

3. What other schools recruited you out of junior college and what school was
your second choice?
Colorado, Colorado St., Troy St., Iowa, Texas A&M, Indiana,
La Tech all recruited me. My choices ended up narrowing to Iowa St., Colorado
St., or even Troy St. I really liked these three schools coaching staffs.

4. What is it like playing for Coach McCarney?
It's been a great experience, he's the kind of Coach I prefer to play for, loves his players and is well
respected, it's been an honor.

5. Who was the best player you went up against last year?
Eric Crouch, tremendous competitor that was as many could see an outstanding player.

6. What was the Iowa game like last year?
It was like the rush of a lifetime, it was so emotional as one would expect in a rivalry game, but it was an experience that I'll never forget.

7. Do you plan on playing in any all-star games after the season?
Yes, I plan on playing.

8. Should you be a top 100 NFL draft pick, and why or why not?
I believe that I have the potential to be a top 3 round draft pick. I have things that I need to
work on that will give me that opportunity. As far as physically, I'm one of
the fastest backers coming out next year, speed is something you can't teach,
so I have an edge. I just need to keep working on changing my weaknesses to
strengths. Film study and reps are very important for me.

9. What NFL team do you want to play for?
Honestly, any team would be okay; I just want to play football.

10.Are you on track to graduate on time?
No, I'll need the summer to finish.
