Name Teyo Johnson

College Stanford

College Position WR

NFL Position TE

Height 6-6

Weight 255

Positives-Teyo is one of the more athletic players in the draft, evident by him playing both basketball, and football at Stanford. He also has good speed for a TE. I also like his size at 6-6 he is a big target, Teyo also has a very good vertical jump. He also can adjust to the poorly thrown ball.

Negatives-Johnson played WR in college so he will be a very raw TE. He needs to be a better blocker. Right now he does not have the strength to hold up as a blocker. He also needs to work on his routes.

1-13-03 Strength: Hands Vertical leap
Weakness: Route running
Assessment: This is a kid that many NFL teams should be talking about right before draft day. Johnson had two years of eligibility remaining before he left Stanford and declared for the draft. Johnson is the best athlete at tight end that the NFL has seen since Tony Gonzalez (notice I said "athlete" Jeremy Shockey fans). Johnson like Gonzalez excels in basketball as well and his athleticism should leave teams drooling. Johnson came to Stanford as a quarterback but played wide receiver in both seasons as a Cardinal. Johnson projects as a tight end but could be a wide receiver as well, it all depends on who drafts him. Johnson needs to improve on his route running skills but that will come with more work as a receiver/tight end. One trait that sets Johnson apart is his 36" vertical leap, couple that his nearly 6-7 frame and you have a guy who is going to go over a lot of corners and linebackers at the next level. Johnson will go no later than the early stages of round 2 and will probably be selected late in the 1st round. Teams picking later in round 1 like the Broncos, Steelers and Eagles would all love to have a player with the qualities that Johnson possesses.

Overall-Johnson should have stayed at Stanford for at least one more year (he came out as a red-shirt sophomore). He needs to work on his blocking, and add bulk to be an NFL Tight End. I do like his athletic ability.
