Name R.J. Luke
Position TE
College Western Illinois
Height 6-3
Weight 245
Background- R.J Luke originally started his college career at Penn State. When at Penn State he was charged with assault chargers. It is important to note that he was never found guilty of this charge. Luke did not like the way the media handled this situation, so he transferred to Western Illinois for his senior year. This year Luke has 36 receptions for 649 yards, and 5 touchdowns.
Positives- Luke is a very good receiver. He has the speed to get down field, and can adjust to most balls. R.J. will also very rarely drop a ball. He could be a very good fit in a passing offense that uses their TE's a lot.
Negatives- I am not sold on Luke's blocking ability. He is not a very aggressive blocker, and will need to improve his mentality if he wants to start in the NFL. R.J. also may want to get into the weight room to improve his strength as a blocker. The last real concern I have with this player is his size. I know his listed size is 6 foot 3, but I have seen this player in person and I have a hard time believing he is any taller then 6 foot 1. Some people may worry about the level of competition he plays at, but the fact that he has played at Penn State, and now plays in one of the top conferences in Division 1AA does not make this a concern for me.
Final Judgment- R.J. has very good hands, but needs to improve as a blocker. I could see him playing H-back in the NFL. I do not have Luke ranked at this time, but he probably will be ranked in the 5th round area when my next rankings come out.
